چکیده

Introduction Pollution can be defined in several ways. Water pollution occurs when energy and other materials are released into water. It includes all of the waste materials that cannot be naturally broken down by water. In other words, anything that is added to the water, above and beyond its capacity to break it down, is pollution. In certain circumstances pollution can be caused by nature itself, such as when water flows through soils having high acidity and human actions are responsible for the pollutants that enter the water (Kenneth M. Vigil, 2003).

Potential of Salvinia molesta for Removal of Sodium in Textile Wastewater

Textile industries are one of the major contaminators of water and soil. Sodium is the only major cation present in textile wastewater due to high consumption of sodium salts in processing units. Many aquatic macrophytes are successfully used for phytoremediation of contaminated water. An attempt has been made to test the potential of Salvinia molesta in reduction of sodium from textile effluen...

Phytoremediation of Textile Waste Water Using Potential Wetland Plant: Eco Sustainable Approach

One of the major problems encountered in the textile industry is the production of large volumes of highly coloured wastewater. The textile industries daily discharge million litres of untreated effluents in the form of wastewater into public drains that eventually empty into rivers. They cause serious health hazard. Textile wastewater also contains substantial pollution loads which increase th...

Aquatic arsenic: phytoremediation using floating macrophytes.

Phytoremediation, a plant based green technology, has received increasing attention after the discovery of hyperaccumulating plants which are able to accumulate, translocate, and concentrate high amount of certain toxic elements in their above-ground/harvestable parts. Phytoremediation includes several processes namely, phytoextraction, phytodegradation, rhizofiltration, phytostabilization and ...

Phytoremediation of Dairy Effluent by Constructed Wetland Technology Using Wetland Macrophytes

One of the burning problems of our industrial society is the high consumption of water and the high demand for clean drinking water. Numerous approaches have been taken to reduce water consumption, but in the long run it seems only possible to recycle wastewater into high quality water. In this study, an attempt was made to compare the efficiency of aquatic macrophytes like Typha sp., Eichhorni...
